When this year’s World Ag Expo opens its doors on February 10th, attendees can head over to Pavilion B to find Fruit Growers Supply. We’re there every year, and we’re always eager to talk about our irrigation work — including custom-designed systems, in-house installations, and our ongoing partnerships with WiseConn — with anyone who stops by. However, we won’t be the only irrigation experts in the building.

More than 90 seminars are scheduled for this year’s farm show, and nearly a dozen of them are irrigation-related. If you’re looking to fine-tune your automation, explore new grant opportunities, or take some tips from industry leaders, consider attending one of these workshops. We’ll highlight a few of them below.

“The Future of Water: AgTech Adoption in Water Management”

Thursday, February 12, 12:30 – 1:25 PM

This seminar is being offered by our friends at WiseConn. As new regulations and reporting requirements are introduced to the irrigation industry, it’s more important than ever to focus on improved water management. WiseConn’s seminar will focus on “practical pathways to sustainability, efficiency, and long-term farm viability,” while also highlighting new grant opportunities, challenges, and agtech’s potential to help us adapt in this ever-changing industry.

“Frost and Heat Mitigation in Orchards: Applying Micro and Sprinkler Systems for Plant Protection and Cooling”

Thursday, February 12, 1:30 – 2:25 PM

Are your crops struggling with frost and heat stress? This seminar focuses on ways in which micro and sprinkler systems can be designed to protect orchards from weather extremes. Anthony Seches from Rivulis Irrigation will be leading the discussion, and he promises to explain “how to apply one system for both frost mitigation and evaporative cooling.”

“The Digital Irrigation Guide for Better Water Scheduling and Uniformity”

Wednesday, February 11, 12:00 – 12:55 PM

Three different speakers will lead this seminar, providing an overview of digital irrigation’s ability to turn soil and weather data into precise watering schedules that “reduce labor, energy, and guesswork.”

“Great Valley Farm Water Partnership: Collaboration for Sustainable Solutions”

Tuesday, February 10, 10:30 – 11:25 AM

Solving California’s water crisis requires partnership. That’s why growers from the Sacramento-San Joaquin Delta and the San Joaquin Valley have joined together to form the Great Valley Farm Water Partnership, a coalition that is “dedicated to fostering mutually beneficial water and environmental solutions through collaboration and expert guidance.” Featuring five presenters from farms, ranches, and vineyards across California, this seminar will introduce the partnership, outline its goals, and highlight ongoing efforts to remove silt from the Southern Delta.
